On 06.01.2022, based on information received from confidential sources, a special police team of Shamsherganj PS arrested a person namely Manirul Sheikh @ Junnur Sheikh (25 years), S/o - Motiur Rahman, village – Islampur, PS - Sagardighi, Dist. - Murshidabad. When he was searched, a total of 495 fake Indian 500 rupee notes were recovered from him, with a total value of 2,47,500 taka (two lakh forty seven thousand five hundred). Based on this incident, a specific case was registered at Shamsherganj PS vide Case No. 11/22 Date: 06.01.2022 u/s- 489B/489C IPC.

The IO of the case, SI Hitesh Sarkar, worked hard to collect evidence against him and during the investigation, it was revealed that the arrested accused was not an Indian citizen. He came from Bangladesh and had been running the fake Indian currency business for a long time. After proper investigation, SI Hitesh Sarkar, after collecting all the necessary information and evidence, submitted a chargesheet in this case u/s- 489B/489C IPC & 14 Foreigns Act.

On 21.06.2025, after the completion of the trial process, Ld. Fast Track, 1st Court, Jangipur declared the verdict, finding the arrested person guilty and sentencing the accused Manirul Sheikh @ Junnur Sheikh to four years of rigorous imprisonment.
