On 31.07.2025, based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted by the Crime Monitoring Cell of Jangipur PD and Farakka PS at New Farakka More. During the operation, a Suzuki Ertiga car travelling from Malda towards Berhampore was intercepted. On search the vehicle, a total of 96 kg 600 grams of cannabis was recovered. Two persons involved in the smuggling were arrested. The arrested persons are 1. Kartik Bhakta (34 years) of Chandpara Bazar, P.S. Gaighata, District – North 24 Parganas & 2. Bapi Pramanik (38 years) of Kathal Palli, P.S. Chakdaha, District – Nadia. A specific case has been registered against them under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and investigation has commenced.
