Based on information received from the Kolkata STF, a joint operation was conducted by Farakka Police Station and the Jangipur Crime Monitoring Cell on 17th October 2025. During the operation, two individuals — Jalal Sheikh and Masum Sheikh — residents of the Kaliachak Police Station area in Malda district, were arrested.

From their possession, police recovered approximately 1 kg 700 grams of brown sugar, with an estimated market value of around ₹1.7 crore.

A case has been registered against the arrested individuals under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and investigation has begun.
